Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet certain criteria.  ESOS assessments must be completed every four years, providing detailed audits of the energy used by buildings, industrial processes, and transport to identify cost-effective energy-saving measures. The third phase of the scheme must be completed by 5th December 2023.

Who has to comply?

Qualifying organisations are advised to start the process of auditing as soon as possible, ahead of the scheme deadlines. The Scheme is mandatory for all UK businesses which meet the following criteria.

Define Your Reference Period

The reference period for your ESOS report should be a 12-month period that includes the qualification date of 31 December 2022 & ends before the deadline of 5 December 2023.

Report Submission & Detailed Action Plan

The deadline to submit an ESOS compliance notification online is 5th December 2023. Although working towards a distant deadline may not seem like a priority.
